About Westergard

Westergard Elementary School is located in northwest Reno and serves students between Kindergarten and 5th grade.

At Westergard Elementary School, we are dedicated to fostering a safe and welcoming environment, where students are engaged and empowered to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.  Through the power of positive reinforcement, rigor, high expectations, strong family-school partnership, and shared responsibilities with our stakeholders, we inspire lifelong learners who contribute to their community with respect, integrity, and a growth mindset. 

Our mascot is the Wildcat.

George Westergard dedicated 30 years of service to education both in Washoe and Lyon County as a teacher and principal. Upon his retirement, Mr. Westergard remained active in education at both a local and state level. George Westergard Elementary School opened in 1989.
